A few words about us

The winery and vineyards of ‘’Mesimvria Winery’’ are located in Nea Mesimvria, Thessaloniki, 20km. northwest of Thessaloniki on hills with a 200 m. altitude and a view on Thermaikos Bay.

The company was founded in 1996 by Pericles Drachas and Theodoros Paraskevopoulos with the aim of promoting the wine-growing potential of the region through the creation of quality wines. Soon they realized that in order to achieve this, intensive and random planting should cease and only quality grapes be produced on the basis of the potential of each vineyard.

Facilities

"Mesimvria Winery" owns a winery in the heart of a vineyard and is located 2 kilometers after Anchialos.

The winery meets the standards and specifications of the ISO 22000 Food Quality and Safety System. All the premises of "Mesimvria Winery" are open to visitors and cover a total area of 3000 sq.m.

  The experts of Mesimvria Winery believe that the presentation of wines without a tasting is not complete. For this reason, they have designed and established a winery that could be visited. In addition to the production areas, the following hospitality spaces have been set up:

Vineyards

The vineyards of Mesimvria Winery are located in the Nea Mesimvria real estate district within walking distance of the winery. In the vineyards there is no irrigation network as the cultivation system with small area yields and very good maturing of the grapes has been determined. The soils are sandy and sloping with good drainage of rainwater, which helps to prevent the growth of grape diseases.

The varieties grown in the vineyards of "Mesimvria Winery" are numerous. The white varieties include Greek Malagousia, Rhoditis, Moschato of Alexandria, Assyrtiko and the French Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The red varieties found in the vineyards of "Mesimvria Winery" are the international Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. At the guided tours of "Mesimvria Winemaking" there is a tour of the vineyards from March to October.
